Growing up in rural Queensland as the only child of ‘ten pound poms’, Carl’s intended career as a beekeeper was sidetracked by a decade marketing Queensland tourism, eventually completing an MBA specialising in Information Systems. After founding and succesfully exiting one of Australia’s largest tourism-specialist SEO agencies, he spent 5 years as a digital strategist, helping established companies and startups compete globally.

Securing new business for a small Brisbane creative studio led to a stint in Los Angeles transforming old school social hangout Myspace (later acquired by Time Inc.). In 2014, he co-founded a public company developing AdTech IP, launched a Brisbane-based video content production studio, and established a network in the USA and Singapore to support the company’s Australian operations.

In 2018, keen to travel less, and hoping to return to more product design and hands-on digital creative projects, Carl was delighted to discover Follow, a uniquely people-focused agency. While now spending some time on the tools and bean-counting, his role is mainly focused on ensuring the Follow crew have the time and resources needed to continue to deliver their amazing work.
