Findings On Pilot Death

AN experienced pilot failed to follow several safety recommendations before the flight that claimed his life, a report has revealed.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau released its initial findings yesterday into the death of Col Pay at Lake Liddell on December 7 last year.

Mr Pay had been testing an experimental water collection system on a fire-bombing Air Tractor aircraft.

His aircraft hit the lake's surface, flipped and sank.
